Youth Leagues

J-Hoops offers our youth leagues throughout the year (Fall & Spring) open to boys and girls grades K-8. Our leagues are designed for your child to experience a competitive and structured environment, while bonding with his or her teammates and coaches. Teams are limited at 8-9 players to ensure ample playing time. All games are staffed by two referees and a scorekeeper. There is an evaluation/draft at the beginning of each season to emphasize fairness amongst the teams and players are placed accordingly.

Each participant:

  • Plays in at least 11 regular season games (most games are on Sundays but some may be played during a weeknight Mon-Thurs only either at 6pm or 7pm).
  • Plays in at least 1 playoff game (single elimination format).
  • Attends one (1) practice per week with his or her coach based on their availablity.  (Sun before a scheduled game - Mon-Thurs at 6pm or 7pm) or at an off campus site.
  • Receives a team jersey

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a high quality basketball program in competitive and non-competitive environments for participants of all ages

At Jhoops, **sportsmanship is not just encouraged, it’s expected.** We ask that everyone involved—players, coaches, parents, and spectators—work together to create a positive and supportive environment.

Here are a few key guidelines to ensure a great experience for all:

1. **Let the players play, coaches coach, and officials officiate.** We expect all spectators to remain positive and supportive, focusing on encouragement rather than criticism.

2. **Positive Influence:** Parents and coaches play a key role in shaping a player’s experience. We ask you to speak and act in a manner that fosters respect and sportsmanship during games, practices, and events.

3. **No Confrontation:** Any coach, player, or parent who does not adhere to Jhoops and JCC standards may be removed from the league at the discretion of the league coordinator. Disrespect toward game officials, DPJCC staff, or other spectators will not be tolerated.

4. **Focus on Your Team:** Parents, spectators, and coaches should concentrate on supporting their own team. Criticism or judgment directed at the opposing team is not acceptable.

5. **Stay Off the Court:** Parents and spectators should never enter the court unless their child is injured, and only when signaled by coaches, referees, or staff. Violating this rule may lead to removal from the gym.

6. **No Profanity or Unsportsmanlike Conduct:** Any use of inappropriate language or hostile behavior toward players, coaches, or officials will result in consequences, including potential technical fouls, suspensions, or removal from the game or league.

7. **Zero Tolerance for Fighting:** Any physical altercation will result in immediate suspension, potential probation, or permanent removal from Jhoops leagues.

8. **Respect the Coaches:** Coaches should be allowed to coach without distractions. If you have concerns, please schedule a meeting with the coach at an appropriate time minimum 24 hours cool down period. Addressing issues before, during, or immediately after games is not acceptable.

9. **No Refunds:** No refunds will be issued for voluntary withdrawals after the first game or for removal due to rules violations.

10. **Be Involved in a Positive Way:** Attend games as often as you can and cheer for all players. If you’d like to get involved, ask the coach how you can help. Remember, your kids are watching—make them proud!

We wish everyone good luck this season and look forward to an exciting, fun-filled, and respectful competition.

Sincerely,

The Jhoops Staff
