MISSION STATEMENT
To provide a high-quality basketball program in competitive and non-competitive environments for participants of all ages.
At Jhoops, sportsmanship is not just encouraged, it’s expected. We ask that everyone involved—players, coaches, parents, and spectators—work together to create a positive and supportive environment throughout the playoffs.
Here are a few key guidelines to ensure a great experience for all:
-
Let the players play, coaches coach, and officials officiate.
We expect all spectators to remain positive and supportive, focusing on encouragement rather than criticism. The playoffs are a time for all involved to show the best of sportsmanship. -
Positive Influence:
Parents and coaches play a key role in shaping a player’s experience. We ask you to speak and act in a manner that fosters respect and sportsmanship during games, practices, and events. -
No Confrontation:
Any coach, player, or parent who does not adhere to Jhoops and JCC standards may be removed from the league at the discretion of the league coordinator. Disrespect toward game officials, DPJCC staff, or other spectators will not be tolerated in the playoffs. -
Focus on Your Team:
Parents, spectators, and coaches should concentrate on supporting their own team. Criticism or judgment directed at the opposing team is not acceptable, especially in the high-stakes environment of the playoffs. -
Stay Off the Court:
Parents and spectators should never enter the court unless their child is injured, and only when signaled by coaches, referees, or staff. Violating this rule may lead to removal from the gym, particularly during the playoffs when focus is critical. -
No Profanity or Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
Any use of inappropriate language or hostile behavior toward players, coaches, or officials will result in consequences, including potential technical fouls, suspensions, or removal from the game or league. -
Zero Tolerance for Fighting:
Any physical altercation will result in immediate suspension, potential probation, or permanent removal from Jhoops leagues. Let’s keep the competition friendly and respectful. -
Respect the Coaches:
Coaches should be allowed to coach without distractions. If you have concerns, please schedule a meeting with the coach at an appropriate time (minimum 24-hour cool-down period). Addressing issues before, during, or immediately after games is not acceptable. - Be Involved in a Positive Way:
Attend games as often as you can and cheer for all players. If you’d like to get involved, ask the coach how you can help. Remember, your kids are watching—make them proud!
We wish everyone good luck this season and look forward to an exciting, fun-filled, and respectful competition in the playoffs.
Best regards,
The J-hoops Team
